The Ateneo Blue Eagles emerged as the champion in the 72nd UAAP season, again.
The blue eagles did not disappoint their fans...including me...
when they won the last year's championships. its not because of luck or by chance.
they really worked hard for it.they won because of their aggressiveness and will. with regards to the former captain Chris Tiu.He lead a very good team.they are really seriuos about winning the crown after a dry 6 year seasons. maybe the want contributed to the win.
Now, when the captain left the team, a lot of questions stirred..
what will happen next season?
can the defend the title?
Well last Thursday, they did. After dethroning the Archers last year. they remained on top with only one lost from UP. Which I may add, is a David and Goliath story...Who would know that the team from the bottom could defeat the team on the top?
The Blue Eagles should have learned something from that experience: Never underestimate the opponent, no matter how many wins or losses each of them had.
The Blue Eagles had a very strong line up this year. Having Rabeh Al Hussaine, Nonoy Baclao and Jai Reyes with Kirk Long Coming out of his shell this season. And of course, with the help of Coach Norman Black.really supporting his players and allowing them to showcase what they got.
My Top 5 Favorite Blue Eagles This 72nd season
Rabeh Al Hussaini:His aggressiveness combined with his strong built made him the most powerful in the team.
Nonoy Baclao:another tall guy. a good blocker.dominant on court, although not very dominant on the score sheets. Its a good thing he is there with Rabeh, their long arms and legs allows good blocking their opponent's shots.
Jai Reyes: jai came from a long line of coaches and players. Basketball is in his blood. you can't stop him from dribbling an orange ball and shooting from the three point line. The Jainamite really is explosive on the hard court.
Eric Salamat: he may look mayabang on court, especially when he salutes. But that simple gesture is for his fans. he showed no regards to his former teammates on the other team.
he is the best stealer on the team.
Eman Monfort: they say bog things come in small packages.Eman is a proof of that big points come from small packages.
Three of my favorite players are graduating this year.this may be the end of their college hoops career. but i look forward in seeing them play for the big leagues. just like their former captain and all the other Blue eagle alumni who made history on the hard court.
